About the position

The Financial Analyst (Trainee) position is designed to assist the Minerals Revenue Accountant in the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) with the State-wide Minerals Revenue Program, which processes approximately $20 million in revenue annually. The role involves providing professional financial analysis, reviewing and evaluating financial data, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), and supporting various accounting and reporting processes within the Minerals Management Section.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Minerals Revenue Accountant in the DNR's State-wide Minerals Revenue Program.
  • Provide professional financial analysis and systematic review of financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).
  • Support accounting, monitoring, and reporting processes related to the Minerals Revenue Program.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Land Ownership Tracking System (LOTS) and other DNR database systems.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in accounting, finance, or economics.
  • For Financial Analyst 10: One year of professional experience in financial analysis or related fields.
  • For Financial Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience in financial analysis, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public health is a plus.
