The Financial Analyst & Underwriter position at Matthews Real Estate Investment Services is a critical role focused on performing in-depth financial analysis to evaluate self-storage assets. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive financial and analytical support services, which include preparing broker opinions of value, data input, valuation, and conducting market research. This role requires a strong emphasis on quantitative analysis and financial modeling, ensuring that the analysis is not only accurate but also applicable in a practical business context. The Financial Analyst will be expected to have a thorough understanding of self-storage and commercial real estate fundamentals, enabling them to underwrite self-storage assets independently and manage client expectations effectively. In this position, the Financial Analyst will analyze, underwrite, and forecast property cash flows and valuations using advanced tools such as Excel or Argus. They will develop and maintain sophisticated financial underwriting models for commercial real estate asset valuation, break down and analyze profit and loss statements and rent rolls, and present their analyses to clients and buyers. The role also involves reviewing industry surveys, benchmarks, and economic and demographic trends to support the financial assessments. Additionally, the analyst will assist in the research and proofing of market intelligence for marketing materials, ensuring that all financial information is accurate before distribution to clients. The Financial Analyst will also be responsible for creating and executing broker financial underwriting training sessions as needed, updating and maintaining comparables for focus markets utilizing multiple data services, and organizing data analysis to draw objective conclusions and make informed recommendations. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can effectively multi-task and maintain high standards of work product while meeting critical deadlines.
