About the position

The Financial Analyst position at Shields Manufacturing involves developing and preparing financial reporting related to operations, costing, and profitability. The role includes responsibilities such as assisting in month-end close processes, conducting financial and inventory audits, and utilizing systems to gain insights into business performance. The position emphasizes compliance with accounting principles and requires collaboration across departments to support financial planning and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory audits and assist with inventory counts.
  • Assist with financial audits of company accounts.
  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Review and analyze company financial records weekly, including general ledger entries, job cost, variance to standards, etc.
  • Contribute to month-end close, including completing monthly reconciliations of revenue and inventory, and completing journal entries for specific P&L accounts.
  • Prepare and analyze month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reports, presenting findings to the leadership team.
  • Assist with financial planning for the sites, including monthly forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Manage capital expenditure process at sites, including maintaining capital project log, and reporting capital spend and variance to budget to key stakeholders.
  • Work cross-functionally on ad-hoc projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • At least four years of experience in accounting and finance.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting, general ledgers, and key financial statements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to organize and efficiently analyze multiple sets of data.
  • Ability to identify financial drivers and create analytical tools to track their impact.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and negotiate priorities with end users.
  • Ability to work well with others and maintain inter-department relationships.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure.
  • Compliance with ITAR standards, providing documentation of US Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
