About the position

VTG is seeking an intermediate Financial Analyst to provide essential financial and contract support to the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs within the SSP Strategic Systems Program. This role is crucial in assisting the Program Manager and the SBIR/STTR Government Support Team, as well as collaborating with other team members on various SBIR/STTR projects. The position is hybrid, based in our Washington, DC office, allowing for a blend of on-site and remote work. In this role, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for managing Purchase Requests related to new contracts, incremental funding, and administrative changes. The candidate will track obligations and commitments using spreadsheets, review Program Executive Office (PEO) spend plans, and identify any cost and schedule issues that may arise. Additionally, the analyst will engage in other financial and contracting efforts, providing executive operations support to the Program Manager to ensure the smooth execution of projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial analysis and contract management, particularly within the Department of Defense (DoD) context. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while also being an effective team member. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with various stakeholders and ensuring that all financial operations align with program objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Support handling Purchase Requests for new contracts, incremental funding, and administrative changes.
  • Track obligations and commitments through spreadsheets.
  • Review PEO spend plans.
  • Identify cost and schedule issues.
  • Engage in other financial and contracting efforts.
  • Provide executive operations support to the Program Manager.

Requirements

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, and SharePoint operations and processes.
  • 3-5 years of DoD financial/contract management experience, preferably with the Navy.
  • Active DOD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain and sustain one.
  • Ability to obtain a Common Access Card and Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) account.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning for financials.
  • Ability to work independently as a team member.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • 4 years of contractor or active Navy experience.
