About the position

The Financial Analyst position at Goodyear involves managing and analyzing financial data for a specific segment of the business. The role requires adherence to accounting principles and government regulations while performing various closing, accounting, consolidation, and reporting activities. The analyst will partner with different departments to implement effective financial analysis tools and ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial reporting processes including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close procedures.
  • Review account reconciliations for assigned accounts and conduct functional analysis including P&L and balance sheet.
  • Establish judgmental reserve balances in accordance with predefined deadlines.
  • Partner with various departments to implement effective financial analysis tools and procedures.
  • Identify basic trends, issues, or insights using analytical approaches.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of accounting principles and techniques such as IAS and US GAAP.
  • Record financial transactions accurately in internal and external books of accounts.
  • Assist in ensuring that identified control and internal audit gaps are remediated timely in accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Assist with special projects and assignments, including accounting for restructuring plans.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in accounting or finance or similar.
  • 3+ years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience.
  • Experience working in an environment requiring analytical response to various business issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong analytical abilities and thorough understanding of GAAP.
  • Ability to interpret and apply current US GAAP and accounting for complex transactions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Hyperion Planner, Tableau, and SAP.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
