About the position

The Financial Analyst position at Medical Mutual of Ohio is a hybrid role focused on providing accurate financial analysis and reporting. The role involves generating management reports, supporting corporate departments with forecasts and budget reviews, and conducting complex financial modeling for business planning. The analyst will also perform various accounting duties and assist in mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Provides analysis and accurate and timely financial information.
  • Generates management reports and interfaces with corporate departments where necessary.
  • Works independently to solve problems, complete special projects, and conduct monthly activities.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Supports corporate departments with generating forecasts and analyzing trends in various business areas.
  • Compiles and reviews budgets for corporate departments, considering actual performance and estimated expenses.
  • Assists in creating financial models of complex 'what if' scenarios for business planning decisions.
  • Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Maintains accurate spending records and establishes measures for budgetary control.
  • Analyzes income statements and prepares reports with recommendations to management.
  • Performs complex research and studies as needed, such as rates of return and investments.
  • Coaches, mentors, and provides guidance to other staff members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • 4 years of progressive accounting or finance experience for Financial Analyst III; 5 years for Senior Financial Analyst preferred.
  • MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills, including MS Access.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of accounting rules and concepts.
  • Some knowledge of rates of return, depreciation, and investments.
  • Proficient in the use of automated accounting systems.
