About the position

The Financial Analyst position at Abbott involves supporting the Structural Heart Division by driving financial ownership, cost efficiency, and process improvement. The role focuses on financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and maintaining financial controls, while collaborating with various leadership levels to enhance business performance and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Support Month-End Close, Quarterly Forecasts, Annual Plan & Standard Costs.
  • Develop budgets for Operations cost centers in support of Annual Plan and Quarterly Forecasts.
  • Perform variance analysis and identify key drivers to support business decisions.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews with business partners to communicate financial performance and business issues.
  • Execute Month-End Close process including journal entries preparation, spending/headcount review, and reporting of monthly results to management.
  • Provide ad-hoc analyses to support complex decision making within global manufacturing operations and present recommendations to management.
  • Identify areas of improvement and propose innovative solutions that drive efficiencies.
  • Support ad hoc internal and external audit requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of full-time finance and/or accounting experience.
  • Intermediate computer applications skills (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, variance analysis skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn system software and databases quickly (SAP, Essbase, Business Objects).

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical device industry experience.
  • Experience in, or directly supporting, manufacturing/supply chain/plant operations.
  • Experience with SAP, Business Objects, and Hyperion SmartView/Essbase.
