About the position

The Financial Specialist I position at International Paper involves providing accounting and analytical support to enhance the financial performance of the manufacturing facility. The role requires collaboration with the Controller to analyze operational results, customer profitability, and assist in budgeting and forecasting. The ideal candidate will be proactive in improving accounting efficiencies and maintaining internal controls while ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting and analytical support to the company.
• Analyze performance and recommend actions to maximize financial returns.
• Assist the Controller in preparing and analyzing operational results and trends.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Prepare journal vouchers and participate in month-end close activities.
• Perform daily financial activities and ensure timely processing of reports.
• Investigate and evaluate financial transactions for appropriate treatment.
• Review production hours entered into the payroll system for accuracy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.
• 3+ years of accounting and/or finance experience, preferably in a manufacturing facility.
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
• Demonstrated knowledge of general business management principles and internal financial management.
• Effective communication skills with business leaders at various levels.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in corrugated, printing, packaging, or related finance in a manufacturing environment.
