About the position

The Financial Analyst at Rutgers The State University plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. This position is responsible for transaction processing, budget monitoring, and financial planning, ensuring efficient resource use to advance the institute's mission of cancer research and care. The analyst will engage with various stakeholders to manage budgets, prepare financial reports, and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operations through transaction processing and budget monitoring.
• Review and approve expenditures and process revenue.
• Prepare routine and ad hoc financial reports and analyses.
• Assist in budget development and monitoring.
• Enforce financial rules, regulations, and policies.
• Research, analyze, and organize budgets and expenditures for assigned operational areas.
• Ensure accuracy of funding information by monitoring reports and budgets.
• Prepare P&L statements and budget status reports for various units.
• Contribute to the creation of the annual budget and quarterly financial forecasts.
• Collaborate with internal teams for state appropriation budget applications and submissions.
• Prepare and submit journal entries within the Oracle system.
• Compile and maintain A/R and A/P reconciliation schedules.
• Monitor daily ACH communications from Rutgers Central.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis or accounting.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Oracle financial systems.
• Familiarity with state reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
