About the position

The Financial Analyst position at Mesa Airlines Inc. is a full-time, permanent role that plays a crucial part in the financial planning and analysis team. Reporting directly to the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, the analyst will be responsible for a variety of financial analyses that are essential for the company's financial health and strategic planning. This includes the preparation of the annual budget, forecasting future financial performance, conducting monthly and quarterly variance analyses, and engaging in various ad hoc projects that arise within the finance department. As an integral member of the finance team, the Financial Analyst will compile and analyze financial information to provide insights that drive decision-making. The role involves developing integrated revenue and expense analyses, creating projections, and preparing detailed reports and presentations that summarize financial data. The analyst will also be tasked with performing financial budgeting and forecasting, as well as reconciling internal accounts to ensure accuracy in financial reporting. In addition to these responsibilities, the Financial Analyst will analyze complex proposals and code-sharing transactions with airline partners, develop cash-flow and financial models, and assess capital raising transactions. The position requires effective collaboration with a small team of other analysts, fostering a cooperative environment to achieve the company's financial objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various financial analyses including annual budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly variance analysis.
  • Engage in ad hoc financial projects as required.
  • Compile and analyze financial information for the company.
  • Develop integrated revenue and expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations.
  • Perform financial budgeting and forecasting, and reconcile internal accounts.
  • Create and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Analyze complex proposals and code-sharing transactions with airline partners.
  • Develop cash-flow and financial models.
  • Analyze capital raising transactions.
  • Work effectively with a small team of other analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or accounting.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent Excel and computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • One (1) year experience in commercial airline finance at the divisional or corporate level.
  • Experience in Oracle, capital budgeting, and project management.
  • One year of financial analysis or corporate finance experience.
