About the position

The Financial Analyst position at Northwest Educational Service District (NWESD) is responsible for providing financial consulting support to agency programs and regional school districts. The role involves budget monitoring, procurement compliance assistance, and the development of financial reports and tools to support the agency's financial stability. The analyst will collaborate with fiscal staff and program staff to ensure effective financial management and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and summarize large data sets to develop reports for fiscal and program staff.
  • Develop tools and processes to analyze data and produce routine reports for management.
  • Conduct analysis, research, and modeling of budgeted and actual revenues and expenditures.
  • Prepare a variety of financial reports for compliance and informational purposes.
  • Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Finance with financial matters related to NWESD operations and programs.
  • Partner with fiscal staff on new business strategies and grant opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and preparation of the annual budget.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding budget and program financial reports.
  • Develop specialized reports for program staff for budget monitoring.
  • Assist in procurement of goods and services in accordance with policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Public Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of applicable financial experience.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of governmental accounting.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other software applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
