About the position

The Financial Analyst at Godfrey & Kahn plays a crucial role in recommending and executing accounting strategies and best practices. This position involves collaboration with firm leadership on various projects, including monthly variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and client reporting activities, aimed at enhancing the firm's financial performance and sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Track and analyze company performance through reports, including compiling and monitoring forecasting reports.
• Interpret performance to date and assess potential risks and opportunities.
• Support financial planning and budgeting processes, including validating budgets prepared by Directors and Managers.
• Create various fee structures and alternative fee arrangements based on historical and industry trends.
• Support projects related to client profitability and pricing initiatives, assessing long-term sustainability of legal business models.
• Address software issues with vendors by logging support cases and ensuring satisfactory resolution.
• Research and report on firm billing trends, client realization, and new client matters.
• Assist with weekly expense approval workflows for employee and vendor payments.
• Assist in the response to requests for proposals.
• Evaluate and participate in industry surveys.
• Assist with closed matter analysis and conduct audits of client trusts.
• Participate in projects assigned by Accounting Manager, Billing Manager, and CFO.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3 - 5 years of experience in Public Accounting.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare concise and actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills with a calm, confident presence.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Excel.
• Outstanding attention to detail.
