About the position

The Sr. Company Planner at Design Within Reach is responsible for leading the strategic and financial demand and sales planning for the company's direct-to-consumer (D2C) businesses globally. This role involves utilizing data-driven analytics and trend insights to develop and communicate strategic plans, annual operating plans, and monthly forecasts. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to conduct analyses that support various business channels, including e-commerce and brick-and-mortar operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic and financial demand and sales planning for D2C businesses globally.
  • Utilize data-driven analytics and trend insights to develop and communicate the strategic plan, annual operating plan, and monthly forecasts.
  • Perform financial forecasting with input from cross-functional stakeholders and share outputs for alignment.
  • Compose weekly business recaps demonstrating an understanding of retail trends and their implications across metrics.
  • Evaluate the health of the business and identify risks and opportunities to forecasts and last year (LY).
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses that result in actionable opportunities to drive business improvements.
  • Effectively communicate with teammates at all levels, including leadership.
  • Partner with the FP&A team to compose month-end and quarter-end hindsight decks for the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors.
  • Streamline global collaboration processes and strategies with global stakeholders across various departments.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • 4 - 7 years of experience in a corporate retail or professional financial environment.
  • Thorough knowledge and expertise in financial forecasting and retail trend analysis.
  • Experience operating in a highly matrixed organization with influential interpersonal skills to attain cross-functional buy-in.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires agility and re-prioritization while maintaining keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to synthesize large amounts of data in Excel.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and impactfully, with a desire to be a business owner.
