About the position

The Automation Engineer Specialist is a key member of the Engineering team at Ferrero, responsible for designing and executing industrial investment projects. This role serves as a technical point of reference throughout the project execution phase, ensuring that all technical specifications are met and that the projects align with the company's strategic goals. The Automation Engineer Specialist will also focus on capitalizing on experiences from various plants, actively seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation in automation processes. In this position, the Automation Engineer Specialist will report to the Automation Engineering Manager for Preparation and Utilities, while also having a managerial reporting line to the North America Engineering Manager. The role requires daily collaboration with multiple internal stakeholders, including plants, technical sourcing, maintenance, and controlling departments. The specialist will be involved in the startup of new machinery, overseeing technology diffusion among plants, and ensuring the effective transfer of know-how to operational teams. The responsibilities include performing technical specifications for design activities, supporting sourcing strategies, and managing vendor relationships during project execution. The projects managed by the Automation Engineer Specialist can have budgets of up to $50 million, highlighting the importance and scale of the role within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical specifications for design activities, defining required technical features.
  • Support the startup of new machinery and oversee technology diffusion among plants.
  • Guarantee the know-how transfer to the plant during project execution.
  • Act as a technical reference during the entire project execution and provide post-execution technical assistance.
  • Support the Sourcing department by providing input on sourcing strategy, collecting and evaluating offers, and assessing suppliers.
  • Ensure connection and coordination between the Area and central Engineering, including technical specifications alignment and feedback on projects and vendors.
  • Coordinate and manage vendors during the execution phase of projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; Master's Degree is a plus.
  • Specialization in Automation, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Electrotechnics.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Automation, including knowledge of PLC, SCADA, Motion Control Systems, and OT infrastructures.
  • Advanced project management skills are essential.
  • Availability to travel frequently for business trips across North America (approximately 50%).
  • Previous experience in Industrial Maintenance roles is considered a plus.
