About the position

The Financial Analyst position is a critical role within the Operation Finance Group, responsible for various financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, month-end activities, margin analysis, and department variance analysis. This role will support both US sites located in Anaheim and Ontario, California, ensuring that financial data is accurately reported and analyzed. The Financial Analyst will report directly to the Director of FP&A and Operations Finance, playing a key role in the financial planning and analysis processes of the organization. In this position, the Financial Analyst will assist in the preparation of daily and weekly sales reports, as well as monthly and quarterly comparisons of actual versus budget variances. The role requires updating departmental expense variances and identifying key drivers that impact financial performance. The analyst will integrate financial statements and ensure their accuracy in the JDE system, helping to analyze and interpret financial results and forecasts. Additionally, the Financial Analyst will support the analysis of global consolidated financial results, plans, and forecasts, and will be responsible for developing presentations for executive and board meetings on a monthly and quarterly basis. The role also involves understanding and updating the Profit and Loss (P&L), Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements, establishing key performance metrics, and tracking financial metrics by location across multiple plants. The Financial Analyst will leverage intermediate Excel skills to create financial models and utilize business intelligence tools. Capital expenditure reporting and return on investment (ROI) analysis for the two US sites will also be part of the responsibilities, along with assisting the Director of FP&A and gaining a solid understanding of the current budget and forecasting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Forecasting and Variance Analysis process
  • Assist with the preparation of daily/weekly sales reports, monthly and quarterly comparison of actual vs. budget variances
  • Update department expense variances and identify key drivers
  • Integrate financial statements and ensure they are accurately reflected in JDE
  • Help analyze and interpret financial results and forecasts
  • Support the analysis of the Global consolidated financial results/plans/forecasts
  • Develop presentations in support of the Executive and Board meetings on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Understand and update the P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements
  • Help establish key performance metrics; highlight trends and gaps
  • Track, standardize and report key financial metrics by location (2 US plants, 2 Canada plants)
  • Leverage intermediate Excel skills to create financial models and have an understanding of BI tools
  • Capital expenditure reporting and ROI analysis
  • Assist in capital expenditure ROI analysis and reporting for 2 US Sites
  • Assist Director of FP&A
  • Gain a solid understanding of current budget/forecasting process, reports, and analysis by supporting FP&A
  • Leverage Planful tool for budget and month-end analysis

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2-4 years of related, progressive work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with JDE systems
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks under time constraints
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to interact well with all levels of management, team members, and external stakeholders
