About the position

Vivalon, a Marin-based non-profit organization with a 70-year history of serving the community, is seeking a Financial Analyst to join its finance team. This position is crucial in supporting a range of strategic planning and internal initiatives aimed at enhancing organizational performance through thorough analysis and problem-solving. The Financial Analyst will report directly to the CFO and will play a key role in analyzing current and past financial data, identifying trends, preparing reports, and developing financial forecasts. In this role, the Financial Analyst will collaborate with operating managers to create annual budgets and dashboards that will enable them to optimize their business performance. Additionally, the analyst will assist the CFO in acting as a liaison to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors, providing necessary data, analysis, and insights as directed. The position also involves contributing to the development of proposals for new business plans and responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs). The Financial Analyst will lead the development of business plans, which includes conducting market research, competitor and financial analysis, opportunity analysis, and identifying critical success factors along with go-forward strategies. Furthermore, the analyst will create detailed business analyses that outline problems, opportunities, and solutions, while defining and reporting business requirements. The role will also involve developing and recommending solutions to meet business goals, including considerations for costs, resource needs, profitability, and implementation plans and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current and past financial data to identify trends and prepare reports.
  • Develop financial forecasts to support strategic planning.
  • Work with operating managers to create annual budgets and dashboards.
  • Assist the CFO in liaising with the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals for new business plans and RFP responses.
  • Lead the development of business plans, including market research and financial analysis.
  • Create detailed business analyses outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions.
  • Develop and recommend solutions to meet business goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience in budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and forecasts.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with management and board members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in non-profit financial management.
