About the position

The Financial and Operations Manager at the Organ Pathobiology Therapeutics Institute (OPTIn) plays a crucial leadership role in overseeing the institute's financial administration. This position is responsible for managing post-award grant functions, supervising administrative staff, and ensuring compliance with fiscal regulations. The incumbent will develop and direct the department budget, perform internal audits, and prepare complex financial reports for leadership, while also serving as the primary contact for financial management issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and direct all post-award grant functions within the OPTIn.
  • Oversee the department budget and completion of SPARS.
  • Supervise pre-award, purchasing, and other administrative staff.
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations for the OPTIn.
  • Perform internal audits and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Develop and administer the department budget in coordination with the Director.
  • Reconcile department and grant budgets and prepare complex reports for OPTIn leadership.
  • Serve as a primary contact for all matters related to financial management.
  • Prepare monthly reports on grant budgets and analyses for PIs and senior leadership.
  • Administer bi-weekly and monthly payroll registers.
  • Prepare and reconcile SPAR.
  • Approve travel and research-related expenses for department personnel.
  • Work with the Director on salary administration.
  • Distribute charges from university core services.
  • Make recommendations regarding operational workflows and procedures.
  • Manage special projects and analyses as determined by the Director or University.
  • Track MyDisclosures, HSConnect training, and I-9 status for OPTIn employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management or related area.
  • Broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in fiscal administration.
