About the position

The Assistant Controller will support the Group Controller in overseeing the financial activities of the restaurant group in North America. This role involves managing accounting functions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The position is primarily hybrid, requiring visits to the Las Vegas restaurant to understand operations and build relationships with the management team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare management accounts, including balance sheets and income statements for each US restaurant entity.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and invoice booking.
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of financial transactions.
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits.
  • Work collaboratively with the finance team and other departments.
  • Report daily, weekly, and monthly sales for the US entities.
  • Process sales journals and sales reconciliations.
  • Maintain complete and accurate fixed asset registers.
  • Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate processing of payroll journals and reporting.
  • Assist in reconciling payroll reports and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes for North American operations.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance controls within the finance function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting roles, preferably within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions and reporting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
