About the position

The Financial Associate (Payroll) position is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing for employees within the State of Ohio. This role involves maintaining employee records in the Kronos Timekeeping System, auditing timesheets, processing payroll deductions, and generating reports to verify payroll accuracy. The associate will also respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and assist in training sessions related to payroll issues.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure employees are accurately entered and maintained into the Kronos Timekeeping System.
  • Verify and post leave usage and work schedules into the Kronos Timekeeping System.
  • Audit and verify timesheets to meet payroll processing deadlines.
  • Ensure accurate pay calculations in OAKS and calculate additional pay earnings codes.
  • Enter deductions and withholdings into the payroll system.
  • Process taxes at federal, state, local, and school district levels.
  • Review and generate OAKS and Cognos reports for verification of accuracy.
  • Run and review Kronos reports for discrepancies.
  • Maintain and file payroll-related documents and forms.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll matters.
  • Interpret various codes and agreements related to payroll.
  • Assist in conducting presentations and training sessions on payroll issues.
  • Organize and distribute written communication related to payroll.
  • Process requests for manual paychecks and research discrepancies in OAKS.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 18 months of experience or training in accounting and/or finance, including basic experience in spreadsheet software.
  • Completion of a high school technical program in accounting with 6 months of experience or training in accounting or finance.
  • Completion of an associate core program in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.
