About the position

The Financial Controller at BioIVT plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of the company, which is a leading global provider of research models and value-added research services for drug discovery and development. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the financial close process, which includes month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing of the accounting records and general ledger. The Financial Controller will generate and present internal financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets, to facilitate management decision-making. In addition to financial reporting, the Financial Controller will work closely with independent auditors during quarterly and annual audits and assist tax accountants in preparing corporate tax returns. The role requires enhancing financial reporting processes and systems to improve the quality, timeliness, and reliability of financial data available to management. The Financial Controller will also provide leadership support for the accounting, treasury, tax, and financial functions of the company, ensuring that internal controls are managed effectively and that budgeting and reporting requirements are met. The position involves ongoing review of accounting systems and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness, as well as providing sound financial analysis and cost management for current and potential initiatives. The Financial Controller will identify and track key metrics to drive business growth and gain buy-in from management and the organization on the relevance of these metrics. Additionally, the role includes overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for each legal entity and providing information to internal stakeholders and cross-functional leaders as needed. The Financial Controller may also be involved in ad hoc projects as required by the Senior Director, CFO, or the Finance Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the financial close process and internal financial reporting submissions.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing of the accounting records and general ledger.
  • Generate and present required internal financial reporting including income statements, balance sheets, and other company-specific reporting.
  • Work with independent auditors during quarterly and annual audits and assist tax accountants in obtaining necessary information for corporate tax returns.
  • Enhance financial reporting processes and systems to facilitate management decision-making.
  • Provide leadership support for the accounting, treasury, tax, and financial functions of the company.
  • Enhance the quality, timeliness, and reliability of financials, financial analysis, and key performance metrics available to management.
  • Provide and support ADME business partnering requirements for Site Leaders, BU Lead, and Senior Director, Global Finance.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of accounting systems and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage internal controls and support budgeting and reporting as required.
  • Provide sound financial analysis and cost management for current and potential initiatives.
  • Identify and track key metrics to drive business growth and gain buy-in from management and the organization.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for each legal entity.
  • Provide information to internal stakeholders and other cross-functional leaders as needed.
  • Complete any other ad hoc projects required by the Senior Director, CFO, or the Finance Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including industry accounting leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated background in financial reporting and intimate understanding of US GAAP.
  • Proven track record of supervising day-to-day accounting operations and cash management.
  • Proven success in financial planning, analysis, and business reporting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Driven, proactive, innovative, and flexible personality with a strong sense of initiative and ownership.
  • A four-year degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Current professional certification in good standing and/or MBA is required.
  • Experience working in a Private-Equity owned company is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Sage X3 experience is a plus.
