About the position

Hawaii Behavioral Health is seeking a Corporate Controller for its Honolulu office. This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial health of the organization, which has been dedicated to serving the needs of Hawaii's children, adults, and families since 1993. The Corporate Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including managing audits, the P&L statement, accounts payable/receivable, and billing processes. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting methodologies and practices, particularly GAAP, to provide accurate financial advice to the ownership regarding the company's financial condition. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in a Controller-level position and will supervise a team of three or more staff members. The new Controller will have the authority to reorganize the department to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer or the company President/CEO, making it a key position within the organization. Responsibilities

  • Manage all audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of the P&L statement.
  • Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Act as a financial adviser to the ownership regarding the financial condition of the company.
  • Reorganize the finance department as necessary to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and other applicable accounting methodologies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller-level position.
  • Excellent working knowledge of accounting methodologies and practices.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with QuickBooks is preferred.
