About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate accounting and regulatory reporting, with a deep understanding of financial acumen and cash management. This role is critical in maintaining the financial health of our organization and will involve collaboration with various departments to ensure compliance and accuracy in all financial matters.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of corporate accounting, including monthly close processes and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage double entry bookkeeping processes to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to verify the accuracy of accounts.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support for complex transactions.
  • Implement effective cash management strategies to optimize liquidity.
  • Perform account analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports for management review, highlighting key performance indicators.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in corporate accounting or a similar role, with a strong understanding of governmental accounting practices preferred.
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks and ERPs or similar accounting software is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed account analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements and compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cash management and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in all financial documentation.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.

Nice-to-haves

  • FP&A experience is preferred.
  • Ability to commute to Macomb, MI.
  • Ability to relocate to Macomb, MI before starting work.
