About the position

National Sawdust is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to manage all financial and accounting aspects of the organization. This role involves collaborating with senior management, overseeing day-to-day fiscal operations, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Financial Controller will play a crucial role in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and managing the financial health of a fast-growing non-profit organization operating a world-class venue.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all financial/accounting aspects of the organization in collaboration with senior management and external auditors.
  • Oversee day-to-day fiscal needs including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, audits, tax preparation, and cash flow management.
  • Manage the CRM database ensuring data cleanliness and organization.
  • Create donation receipts, acknowledgments, and fundraising campaign records.
  • Prepare organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, and reports to funding agencies.
  • Develop and monitor organizational and contract/grant budgets, and maintain the General Ledger.
  • Produce monthly P&L reports, financial statements, and cash flow projections for senior management and the Finance Committee.
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including Petty Cash.
  • Oversee payroll for full-time and part-time staff, and manage corporate card expenses and staff reimbursements.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding payments and services, and process invoices.
  • Support management of annual budgets and administration of monthly reviews, including variance explanations.

Requirements

  • Valid CPA license (preferred)
  • Experience in FP&A
  • Non-profit and venue/ticketing-based experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks
  • Experience with payroll systems (ADP/Paychex)
  • Familiarity with G Suite (Google Sheets)
