About the position

The Financial Controller position is a full-time, permanent role based in Manhattan, NY, with a hybrid work model that allows for three days in the office and two days remote. This role is critical to the senior management team, focusing on leading the accounting functions and supporting business operations across various international offices, including those in China, Mexico, South America, and the UK. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance management, particularly within small to medium-sized businesses, and will possess excellent organizational and analytical skills. The Financial Controller will report directly to the CEO and will be instrumental in guiding the company's growth, efficiency, and profitability. In this role, the Financial Controller will enhance the accuracy of the company's financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accepted accounting principles and international financial reporting standards. Responsibilities will include organizing and maintaining client and licensee contract files, monitoring financial metrics, overseeing invoicing and receivables, and leading the month-end closing process. The position also involves developing and implementing budgeting and forecasting plans, evaluating financial performance, and providing financial insights to top management to drive business performance. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills, and have a sense of duty towards the accuracy of financial information. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying gaps and areas for improvement within business processes, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels. The working hours are from 9 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Responsibilities

  • Organizing and maintaining client and licensee contract files.
  • Monitoring client and licensee contracts and associated financial metrics tracking.
  • Overseeing and managing invoicing and receivables.
  • Completing financial reports and leading the month-end closing process.
  • Conducting periodic financial forecasts.
  • Developing and implementing plans for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Evaluating the financial performance of the organization, including its salespeople and client programs.
  • Measuring returns on investments.
  • Coordinating with top management to provide financial insight and analysis to drive business performance and growth.
  • Monitoring and consolidating financials from international offices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting or relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years accounting experience in a Finance Manager role.
  • 10+ years of experience as a finance professional.
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and other financial planning software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in brand extension licensing and advertising.
