About the position

The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management within the company, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and tax compliance. This strategic role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, particularly in the food industry, and the ability to provide financial insights to support decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience with financial systems like NetSuite and will lead a team of accounting professionals to ensure the financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including treasury operations, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
• Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
• Responsible for month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals.
• Collaborate with senior management to develop strategic financial plans.
• Utilize NetSuite for financial management, reporting, and process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• CPA or MBA preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least 3 years in a senior financial leadership role.
• Previous experience overseeing the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Analyzing financial data to identify trends and potential issues.
• Conducting in-depth financial analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
• Developing and managing annual budgets and forecasts.
• Monitoring actual performance against budget and making necessary adjustments.
• Extensive experience with inbound and outbound supply chain accounting, and payment systems.
• Leadership experience with Inventory financial management.
• Managing bank relationships and optimizing cash balances.
• Forecasting future cash needs.
• Implementing and maintaining financial systems, such as ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite).
• Ensuring system accuracy and integrity.
• Training and supporting users on financial systems.
• In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices.
• Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
