About the position

Holiday Foliage Inc. is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team in San Diego, CA. This is an in-office position, and we are looking for a dedicated individual with proficient Cost Accounting experience to manage all aspects of financial management. The Financial Controller will be responsible for corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, and the development of internal control policies and procedures. This role will also involve completing routine clerical and accounting tasks, including basic bookkeeping and accounting duties for the company. The Financial Controller will play a crucial role in developing, interpreting, tracking, and implementing financial concepts across cost accounting and financial planning & analysis (FP&A). This includes performing technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance and owning the day-to-day management and oversight of our site manufacturing metrics. We are looking for a cost-accountant-minded individual who can drive process improvements and analytics within our Finance Team. As the Financial Owner of the manufacturing site, you will be responsible for delivering clear and concise financial results, partnering with the site director to provide accurate metrics and presentations to leadership. You will lead a team that supports cost accounting analytics, forecasting, budgeting, and monthly reviews of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics. Additionally, you will develop team members on accounting skills, reporting capabilities, and career development, while supporting monthly KPI report outs to executive-level leaders, highlighting focus areas and opportunities for improvement. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, managing payroll, coordinating internal and external audits, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. You will manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting systems in accordance with GAAP policies and procedures, ensuring the accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data and revenue. This position requires a strong work ethic, collaborative attitude, and the ability to communicate effectively with globally based employees at differing levels. You will need to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize while delivering consistent, accurate, and reliable work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of financial management including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation.
  • Develop and implement internal control policies and procedures.
  • Complete routine clerical and accounting tasks including basic bookkeeping and accounting duties.
  • Oversee and manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions in the office.
  • Manage payroll and update payroll ledgers.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end processes.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Lead a team supporting cost accounting analytics, forecasting, budgeting, and monthly reviews of KPIs and metrics.
  • Support monthly KPI report outs to executive-level leaders, highlighting focus areas and opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive process improvements and cross-functional projects within the company.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Cost Accounting support.
  • Proficient in SAGE 100 and SAGE Intact.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint (pivot tables, vlookup, filters).
  • Technical ability to work with large data sets from multiple systems and make good business judgments when necessary.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Deep understanding of general accounting principles and essential financial reporting for P&L and balance sheet (accruals, prepaids, capital expenditures).
  • Strong work ethic with a collaborative attitude and confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines while delivering consistent, accurate, and reliable work.
