About the position
The Financial Counselor at AdventHealth Medical Group is responsible for managing patient accounts, ensuring timely communication with insurance companies, and assisting patients with their financial arrangements. This role emphasizes patient-centered care and collaboration within a supportive team environment, aiming to resolve billing issues and facilitate access to financial resources for patients.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with insurance companies and other payers to ensure patient accounts are current and complete.
- Make financial arrangements for patients, including processing account adjustments according to financial guidelines.
- Screen patients for overdue balances and discuss resolution options with them.
- Direct Medicaid-eligible patients to appropriate agencies for assistance.
- Answer patient inquiries regarding billing statements and resolve any billing problems.
- Obtain necessary medical records or documentation to ensure timely payment of accounts.
- Handle calls from insurance companies and physicians' offices regarding billing issues.
- Research and update information accurately when working on pre-collection reports.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Willingness to float to other AHMG practices as needed.
Nice-to-haves
- 1 year of medical experience.
- Familiarity with OB/GYN service line.
