About the position
The Financial Counselor at Valley Health Partners acts as the Sliding Fee Discount Program Specialist throughout the Community Health Center. This role involves gathering financial information from patients, informing them of alternatives for financial obligations for services, and assisting indigent parties in obtaining free or financial assistance based on the sliding fee policy.
Responsibilities
- Gather financial information from patients.
- Inform patients of alternatives for financial obligations for services.
- Assist indigent parties in obtaining free or financial assistance based on the sliding fee policy.
- Conduct home visits as necessary to obtain documents for benefits applications.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One-year previous experience in a customer-oriented environment, patient registration or insurance related field.
- Successful completion of LVHN Revenue Cycle Training.
- Driver's license required due to high volume of travel and home visits.
Nice-to-haves
- Associate degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, preferred.
- Three years previous experience in a customer-oriented environment, patient registration or insurance related field, preferred.
- Spanish as a second language is desirable.
