About the position

The Financial Crime Risk Specialist role at TD Bank focuses on developing and maintaining the bank's Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Anti-Terrorist Financing (ATF), Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABAC) programs. This position involves conducting reviews of customer accounts to assess risks, supporting management in risk assessment initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The specialist will also oversee vendor activities related to historical reviews and conduct quality control reviews of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain TD's AML/ATF/Sanctions/ABAC programs including frameworks, methodologies, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic and event-driven reviews of customers to assess risks.
  • Support management in delivering initiatives related to risk assessment and internal/external exam support.
  • Assist in the coordination and oversight of vendor and internal activities related to AML regulatory mandated historical reviews.
  • Conduct SAR quality control reviews to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Lead the development of team procedures and governance processes.
  • Prepare summaries, presentations, and documentation to report on the status of the FCRM program.
  • Deliver training programs for applicable employees across the Bank.
  • Monitor FCRM industry developments and maintain knowledge of evolving regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in a relevant field.
  • Advanced degree or professional accreditation is preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in AML investigations or financial crime risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of financial crime typologies and AML regulations, including BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with high integrity and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using AML software and tools for data analysis.
