About the position

The Financial Crimes Risk Director at MidWestOne Bank is responsible for leading the Financial Crimes Risk Management Team and serving as the Corporate BSA/AML/OFAC Officer. This role involves providing oversight and guidance on compliance with regulatory expectations and internal policies related to financial crimes. The director will collaborate with various departments to identify and mitigate compliance risks, implement new regulations, and ensure effective training and communication across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day advice on BSA/AML/OFAC compliance policies and procedures.
  • Contribute subject matter expertise on BSA/AML/OFAC compliance risk.
  • Collaborate with the first line of defense to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Support the Director of Compliance in enterprise compliance risk management responsibilities.
  • Monitor the regulatory landscape for emerging risks in financial crimes.
  • Implement legislative and regulatory requirements affecting bank operations.
  • Develop and maintain BSA/AML/OFAC compliance processes and controls.
  • Deliver training and presentations to partners in the first line of defense.
  • Develop and report on compliance-centric Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Supervise a team of compliance officers and analysts, monitoring their work and development.
  • Assist in preparation for regulatory examinations and compliance audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years of BSA/AML/OFAC management experience.
  • Prior compliance experience at a large bank preferred.
  • Expert-level familiarity with federal and state banking regulations preferred.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or similar compliance certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) certification preferred.
  • Experience working as an examiner may be considered.
