About the position

Mint Mobile is seeking a talented Financial Data Scientist to join the Strategy & Analysis Team. This remote position focuses on understanding and addressing customer churn and deactivations through deep analytical work, including variance and root cause analysis. The role involves ongoing churn analysis, forecasting, and collaboration with the retention segmentation analysis team to develop effective strategies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct root cause analysis of customer churn drivers, tracing deactivation trends back to acquisition channels.
• Develop and refine forecasting models for churn to support retention strategies.
• Analyze customer behaviors and retention metrics using SQL, Python, and Alteryx to identify actionable trends and patterns.
• Support retention strategy by collaborating with the retention segmentation analysis team.
• Identify key business drivers and variations in churn rates to guide resource allocation and program adjustments.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of customer acquisition channels and the impact of initiatives on retention and customer lifetime value.
• Conduct in-depth variance analysis to uncover root causes of changes in churn rates and customer deactivations.
• Provide strategic recommendations based on churn analysis to align with business goals.
• Support the creation of dynamic reporting frameworks for churn, deactivations, and retention performance.
• Collaborate on self-service tools and dashboards to democratize data access across teams.
• Document analysis processes and findings to streamline decision-making.
• Engage with teams across the organization to gather input and provide insights on customer retention.
• Present complex churn analysis findings in clear, actionable terms to influence strategic decision-making.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data analysis, business analysis, or a related role with a strong focus on churn analysis and retention strategy.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and Alteryx for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and forecasting.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to translate complex insights into actionable business strategies.
• Collaborative and team-oriented mindset with the ability to engage stakeholders across departments.
