About the position

The Financial Examiner/Analyst II position at the Office of Financial Regulation in Tallahassee, Florida, is a critical role responsible for performing advanced analysis and examination of applications for individuals, businesses, and branch offices to ensure compliance with various financial regulations. This position requires a thorough understanding of the laws and regulations governing financial institutions and services, specifically those outlined in Chapters 494, 516, 520, 537, 559, and 560 of the Florida Statutes. The incumbent will engage in complex and highly technical matters, including disciplinary filings, changes in control, and debt collection, to determine if further review is warranted for enforcement purposes. In addition to application analysis, the Financial Examiner/Analyst II will coordinate and assist in general projects related to licensing records and the application process. This includes researching and interpreting regulations and providing guidance to applicants, consumers, and industry professionals regarding compliance with the relevant laws. The role also involves training other staff members to ensure they understand the proper procedures for processing licensing information and maintaining accurate records. The position demands strong analytical skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and a commitment to public service. The successful candidate will work in a professional office environment, contributing to the mission of the Office of Financial Regulation to protect consumers and ensure the integrity of the financial services industry in Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced analysis and examination of initial or renewal applications for compliance with licensure requirements.
  • Conduct advanced analysis of amendments for individuals, businesses, and branch offices to ensure compliance with licensure requirements.
  • Coordinate and assist in general projects relating to licensing records and the application process.
  • Handle ACD telephone calls, answering questions from applicants, consumers, and industry professionals regarding financial regulations.
  • Correspond with companies regarding potential unlicensed activity and determine necessary follow-up actions.
  • Assist in training staff members on proper procedures for processing licensing information.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Four years of professional examination and/or regulatory work experience relating to financial institutions or services.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required professional experience.
  • Knowledge of mathematics and auditing principles.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate financial data and records.
  • Ability to conduct research and prepare reports.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and establish effective working relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, economics, insurance, risk management, or business management/administration.
  • One or more years of professional experience in accounting, examining, investigating, or auditing financial data.
  • A master's degree in finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, or risk management, or relevant certifications such as CFE, CAMS, or CPA.
