About the position
The Financial Institution Collections Manager is responsible for leading the collection staff at Community Choice Credit Union, ensuring effective recovery of delinquent accounts. This management role focuses on training, development, and motivation of team members to achieve collection goals while providing outstanding service to both internal and external members. The position emphasizes the importance of community service and adherence to the credit union's core values.
Responsibilities
- Train, develop, and motivate collection staff to ensure efficient collection of delinquent accounts.
- Review collector activity within Symitar to ensure quality expectations are met.
- Identify team member strengths and weaknesses and coach them for improvement.
- Contact delinquent borrowers to establish repayment strategies and provide credit counseling.
- Review bankruptcy accounts to protect the credit union's interests and minimize losses.
- Report delinquency statistics to the board and create reports to identify trends and solutions.
- Monitor recovery and sale of repossessed and foreclosed assets for maximum value.
- Review accounts for charge-off and report to the board as per policy.
- Monitor collection performance of attorneys and outside agencies to maximize recoveries.
- Collaborate with Lending Managers to review policies and identify trends to minimize losses.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (preferred)
- 5 years of experience in a similar or related role
- 5 years of experience in collections
- 5 years of experience in a financial institution
