About the position

The Financial Institution Internship (FII) is a paid internship designed for students pursuing a degree in relevant fields. This internship may lead to a post-graduation employment offer as a Financial Institution Specialist, which is part of a three and a half year program culminating in a professional certification as a commissioned Financial Institution Examiner. Interns will work closely with experienced FDIC employees in the Division of Risk Management Supervision, evaluating bank operations and risk management strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate bank operations, business planning, and risk management strategies.
  • Conduct reviews and assessments of financial reports and accounting procedures.
  • Assist in evaluating the adequacy of internal controls and compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare drafts of schedules, exhibits, and comments for examination reports.
  • Participate in various phases of bank examinations as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a student in an accredited 4-year college or university at least half-time.
  • Must have completed at least the sophomore year in college upon entry to the program.
  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 throughout the internship.
  • Must have completed two full academic years towards the degree by the first day of employment.
