About the position

The Analyst, Financial Investigations at MGM Resorts International plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) laws and regulations. This position is integral to the MGM Resorts community, focusing on auditing, reviewing, and analyzing financial transactions to identify suspicious activities and ensure adherence to Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols. The Financial Investigations department is responsible for investigating potential money laundering activities and violations of Title 31 regulations, making this role vital for maintaining the integrity of financial operations within the organization. In this position, the Analyst will ensure that Financial Investigations Department (FID) and KYC procedures are met by verifying the accuracy of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) filed with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). The Analyst will work closely with Compliance Directors to resolve any issues related to Title 31 compliance and KYC across all areas of the casino. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff at all levels within the Compliance Department and operational departments is essential for success in this role. The day-to-day responsibilities include conducting Anti-Money Laundering investigations, utilizing various investigative tools for extensive research, and preparing regulatory reports. The Analyst will also assist in the review of processing wires and checks, ensuring compliance with the company's third-party policy. Participation in training sessions, staff meetings, and compliance conferences is expected, along with effective communication across different divisions and departments. Adaptability to procedural changes and new system implementations is also a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure FID and KYC procedures and internal controls are met by ensuring accuracy of SARs to be filed with FinCEN (IRS).
  • Investigate and assist the Compliance Director(s) in resolving issues of Title 31 compliance and KYC for all areas of the casino.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of staff in the Compliance Department and with operational departments.
  • Perform Anti-Money Laundering investigations, providing analysis and documentation.
  • Use investigating tools to conduct extensive research using the Internet, subscription sites, internal systems, and spreadsheets.
  • Complete SAR pre-prep and ensure filing of regulatory reports (Suspicious Activity Reports).
  • Create monthly multiple property compliance meeting agendas.
  • Clearly describe casino transaction details, research, and support your recommendations.
  • Assist Compliance management with review of processing wires and checks in a timely manner to ensure compliance with the company's third-party policy.
  • Assist in subpoena production for the department as directed by management.
  • Attend all scheduled training and staff meetings and conferences.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management across different divisions and departments.
  • Adapt quickly and effectively to procedural and new system implementations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of prior relevant experience.
