About The Position

The Financial Investigator position at the Office of the Attorney General involves providing administrative support for the Grants Unit of the Bureau. The role requires strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. The investigator will conduct investigations related to antitrust and consumer fraud violations, analyze financial data, and assist attorneys in legal preparations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in conducting investigations or in law enforcement.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of professional experience in securities, accounting, or financial examining.
  • A master's degree can substitute for one year of the required experience.

  • Experience utilizing Excel for tracking trends and financial transactions.
  • Experience in investigations related to antitrust, white-collar crime, or economic crimes.
  • Experience in complex civil or criminal investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all phases of investigation of alleged antitrust and consumer fraud violations.
  • Supervise data collection and input, analyze data, and perform interviews of fact witnesses.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate reports and financial data to determine violations of laws.
  • Research and cull information from various sources, including consumer complaints and bank accounts.
  • Assist attorneys in preparation of depositions and document productions.
  • Prepare documents, exhibits, schedules, and reports for court cases.
  • Testify as a fact witness when necessary.
  • Obtain evidence through sworn testimony and written interrogatories.
  • Interview and secure statements from witnesses.
  • Act as a liaison with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Complete projects in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
