About the position

The Financial Litigation Technician position within the Civil Division of the Northern District of Indiana offers an exciting opportunity to support the enforcement of federal laws while working in a collaborative environment. The role involves providing legal support to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) by managing debt collection processes, analyzing financial information, and ensuring compliance with legal judgments. This position is ideal for individuals looking to contribute to the protection of citizens' rights and the effective functioning of the justice system.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, interpret, and enforce judgments against debtors.
  • Obtain and analyze financial information on debtors.
  • Communicate with debtors to ensure successful collection of debts.
  • Conduct research to locate debtors and debtor assets when necessary.
  • Make recommendations regarding settlements, write-offs, and liquidations.
  • Process monies received from debtors.
  • Review and reconcile computerized debt collection records.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service registration for male applicants born after December 31, 1959.
  • Satisfactory preemployment adjudication including fingerprint, credit, and tax checks, and drug testing.
  • Completion of a one-year probationary period may be required.
  • For current/former federal employees, at least 52 weeks in the next lower grade level is required.
