About The Position

The mission of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) is to provide the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel from our Nation's past conflicts to their families and our Nation. DPAA personnel research, investigate, recover, and identify remains of DoD personnel unaccounted for from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, the Iraq conflicts and Persian Gulf War. The Director, DPAA (SES-III), reports to the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy (USD(P)).

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Required to participate in the direct deposit program.
  • This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position may require you to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or mandatory overtime.
  • This position may require occasional travel away from your normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Level 2 Department of Defense Financial Management Certification within two years from the date of appointment into this position.

Nice To Haves

  • One year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Applies knowledge of accounting, budgeting and resource management practices, methods and procedures in the examination and analysis of regulations, laws, directives, ledgers, accounts cost data and related transactions.
  • Performs a wide range of financial management functions that include budget formulation and estimates to support plans, programs, and activities.
  • Uses financial management systems to gather, analyze and maintain data.
  • Identifies reliable data and assists program managers and staff with interpreting potential impact of financial/budgetary planning and program changes.
  • Manages a variety of substantive programs and administrative work for support activities.

  • Salary range: $77,192 - $100,344 per year.
  • 8.64% cost-of-living allowance (COLA) for this duty location.
