About the position

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC seeks an enthusiastic and highly qualified Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our diverse team as a Financial Management/Budget Analyst. This role primarily supports the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Department of Defense (DoD) and Air Force accounting, with experience in classified accounting systems and processes. The successful applicant will conduct complex financial analyses of budgets and schedules to meet contractual and project requirements for programs across the United States Space Force's Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM) portfolio. Responsibilities include coordinating, negotiating, and resolving financial compliance issues with various governmental agencies to ensure accurate interpretation and application of regulations, policies, and guidance. The candidate will also support the interdepartmental development of program plans, interfacing with customers and other stakeholders, and contributing to the formulation of STARCOM's organizational strategies, tactics, and budget/action plans.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process.
  • Conduct complex financial analyses of budgets and schedules for STARCOM programs.
  • Coordinate, negotiate, and resolve financial compliance issues with governmental agencies.
  • Support the development of program plans and interface with customers and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the formulation of STARCOM's organizational strategies and budget plans.
  • Monitor execution of assigned programs using automated tools such as CRIS, SAFES, IDECS, and PBES.
  • Provide independent assessments of the Air Force and U.S. Space Force financial posture.
  • Advise leadership on decision options related to financial management.
  • Understand and support the DoD PPBE processes and analyze program funding.
  • Identify issues, recommend solutions, and advise on financial management of the classified portfolio.
  • Provide financial advice and support from project inception to conclusion.
  • Develop recommended strategic roadmaps for the Air Force and U.S. Space Force architectures.
  • Partner with outside organizations to ensure financial processes are complete and timely.
  • Conduct detailed analysis and recommendations for improvements and optimization efforts.
  • Manage the efforts of all staff assigned to specific jobs or tasks as assigned.
  • Provide recommendations to senior leadership to ensure mission success.

Requirements

  • 10 years of relevant DoD work experience.
  • Master's degree in Business or Financial Management (preferred).
  • Experience with Financial Management Systems used by the Department of the Air Force and the DoD.
  • Understanding of U.S. Space Force organizations and programmatic goals.
  • Ability to provide independent assessments and develop strategic roadmaps.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in classified accounting systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of the DoD PPBE processes and budget exercises.
  • Experience with automated tools for program execution monitoring.
