About the position

The Financial Management Specialist position at FEMA's Office of the Chief Financial Officer involves managing financial activities related to interagency agreements and reimbursables. The role requires expertise in reviewing and reconciling accounting transactions, analyzing financial data, and preparing reports for management. This position is critical in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial operations within the agency, particularly in the context of disaster response and recovery efforts.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, reconcile, and adjust appropriations and other budgetary accounts to ensure accuracy and propriety.
• Investigate and correct out-of-line and out-of-balance conditions.
• Reconcile source documents to determine the accuracy of transactions.
• Maintain current and accurate bills, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Compile and summarize financial information and quantitative data for internal and external use.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal government, including experience in analyzing and reconciling invoices and accounting data.
• A Master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field, or two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
• Combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
