About the position

The Operations Analyst, Global Risk and Tax at The AES Corporation plays a crucial role in providing administrative, analytical, and project tracking support for the Senior Vice President, Chief Tax & Risk Officer. This position is integral to the Tax and Risk teams, facilitating daily interactions that enhance awareness of critical activities within these functions. The Operations Analyst is tasked with driving efficiency in data management, decision-making processes, and the overall information content that supports the SVP in their strategic objectives. In this role, the analyst will perform non-technical research and compile dashboards that provide quick access to key data, which is essential for informed decision-making. The analyst will also draft executive-friendly written summaries based on their own research and detailed input from relevant teams. A significant part of the job involves preparing visually appealing, data-intensive PowerPoint presentations, coordinating the gathering of necessary information from various teams to ensure accuracy and relevance. Additionally, the Operations Analyst will propose agendas for internal team meetings, coordinate the preparation of content with Risk and Tax leaders, and track agreed actions through meeting minutes for the SVP. Regular progress reports against defined functional objectives will be coordinated to ensure transparency and accountability within the teams. On the administrative side, the analyst will prepare reports that illustrate actual external cost spending to ensure adherence to budget forecasts, coordinating accrual and payment management with accounting teams. They will also manage the scheduling of internal executive-level committee meetings and perform occasional administrative tasks such as email distribution list management, expense reporting, and travel arrangements when requested. This position requires a proactive approach to managing day-to-day operations while supporting the executive leadership team effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform non-technical research and compile dashboards based on team input for quick access to key data driving decision making.
  • Draft executive-friendly written summaries based on self-performed research and detailed input from applicable teams.
  • Prepare and proof visually attractive, data-intensive PowerPoint presentations, coordinating the gathering of required information with applicable teams.
  • Propose internal team meeting agendas, coordinate the preparation of content with Risk and Tax leaders, and track agreed actions via meeting minutes for the SVP, Chief Tax & Risk Officer.
  • Coordinate information flow with applicable teams to provide regular progress reports against defined functional objectives.
  • Prepare reports to illustrate actual external cost spend to ensure adherence to budget/forecast; coordinate accrual and payment management with accounting teams.
  • Coordinate monthly scheduling for internal executive level committees.
  • Perform occasional administrative support including email distribution list management, expense reporting, travel arrangements, and agenda conflict resolution when requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in business.
  • Two to five years of professional experience building multi-tasking and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong communications and analytical skills; data visualization experience a plus.
  • Basic business finance knowledge and a curiosity to learn financial and economic concepts applicable to tax and risk areas.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple tasks and initiatives, including showing follow-up skills.
