About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Operations Analyst to join our finance team at Catchafire. The Financial Operations Analyst will play a critical role in analyzing financial data, managing financial processes, and supporting operational efficiency. This position requires a strong understanding of financial principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The responsibilities of the Financial Operations Analyst include month-end close activities, such as reconciliations, accruals, and posting journal entries, as well as preparing and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements. The analyst will manage accounts receivables and payables, including invoicing and billing, and support the Director of Finance in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Additionally, the analyst will assist in the preparation of financial statements and documentation for tax and audit filings, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial data to internal and external stakeholders. In terms of budgeting, the analyst will support the development and monitoring of annual budgets, track and report on budget performance, and assist departmental managers in managing their budgets and expenditures. The role also involves streamlining financial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy, ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial policies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve financial operations and implement best practices. The Financial Operations Analyst will also be responsible for compliance and risk management, ensuring adherence to financial regulations, tax laws, and internal controls, and assisting in the preparation of audit, tax, and regulatory filings. Identifying and mitigating financial risks to protect company assets is also a key responsibility. Furthermore, the analyst will assist in financial projects, providing data analysis and insights, and participate in system implementation and upgrade projects to enhance financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Month-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and posting journal entries

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, operations, or a related field
  • Experience with financial software (QBO, Bill.com, Rillet, Brex or equivalent) is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, particularly Excel and Sheets (advanced functions)
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards

Nice-to-haves

  • A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA or bookkeeping certification) is a plus
  • 501(c)(3) accounting experience is a plus
