About the position

The Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst IV position at Kaiser Permanente is a senior individual contributor role that serves as an experienced finance leader and operational consultant for a variety of medical center departments, including administrative, ancillary, inpatient, primary, and specialty care. This role is pivotal in providing operational and financial reporting, analysis, and consultation to support the organization's strategic goals. The analyst will be responsible for resource allocation support, including business case development, and will collaborate closely with clinical department leadership to drive operational excellence through influence, analysis, interpretation, and data validation. In this role, the analyst will maintain a comprehensive understanding of healthcare operations and Kaiser Permanente's integrated healthcare model at the clinical level. This includes interpreting large volumes of complex data, such as medical records and financials, to provide detailed operational data that evaluates performance improvement initiatives. The analyst will also be tasked with programming and conducting statistical analyses using tools like SAS and SQL to facilitate data-driven decision-making. Additionally, the position involves conducting research and preparing detailed business cases in partnership with department leaders, leveraging a breadth of operational knowledge to assess and evaluate department operations and workflows. The responsibilities extend to identifying opportunities for optimizing efficiencies in appointment supply and demand, applying data modeling concepts to both financial and non-financial scenarios, and developing and maintaining complex staffing models for department and medical center operations. The analyst will play a crucial role in promoting learning among coworkers, building relationships with stakeholders, and facilitating team collaboration to support business outcomes.   • Supports field operations by analyzing and interpreting their operational/financial performance; determining areas of improvement.
  • Conducts Financial Statement Analysis of business partners by reviewing information reported from software systems and making recommendations regarding the financial status of business partners.
  • Improves financial performance by analyzing financial trends; uses results of analysis to identify actions that address operational performance issues.
  • Informs strategic financial planning by performing and evaluating complex financial, utilization, and benchmark analytics.
  • Assists with strategic financial planning by preparing recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, financial requirements, and operating forecasts.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years finance experience managing a portfolio of departments, business lines, and/or functional/service areas.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field.
  • Minimum six (6) years Financial Planning & Analysis experience, or directly related business experience.
  • Additional equivalent work experience in a directly related field may be substituted for the degree requirement.
