About the position

As a Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst IV at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategies that drive improvement and influence the future of health care. This position is primarily responsible for conducting and interpreting complex financial assessments and modeling, leading internal audit processes, and developing reports on the performance of various regions and business units. You will be expected to engage in strategic financial research and provide insights that will help guide decision-making at the highest levels of the organization. In this role, you will practice self-development and promote learning among your colleagues by sharing information, resources, and expertise. Building relationships with cross-functional stakeholders will be essential, as you will need to influence others through technical explanations and examples. You will adapt to competing demands and new responsibilities while listening to and addressing performance feedback. Your ability to create and execute plans to capitalize on strengths and develop weaknesses will be vital in supporting team collaboration and adapting to change. You will evaluate the complex business environment by conducting financial assessments and interpreting reports that summarize business, financial, or economic data. Leading the internal audit process will involve reviewing audit results and engaging with auditors to resolve material weaknesses and implement changes to internal controls. You will also create budgets and forecasts in alignment with business strategic initiatives, advising region and business unit leaders on fiscal matters and acting as an internal consultant to the management team. Your responsibilities will include conducting financial modeling, assessing the business vision and strategic initiatives, completing costing activities, and evaluating performance through complex financial analyses. You will report financial information by evaluating and communicating financial trends and findings, supporting field operations by analyzing their performance, and conducting financial statement analysis of business partners. Ultimately, your work will inform strategic financial planning and assist in preparing recommendations for financial plans and operating forecasts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and interpret complex financial assessments and modeling.
  • Lead internal audit processes and engage with auditors to resolve material weaknesses.
  • Conduct and review strategic financial research and develop reports on region/business unit performance.
  • Create budgets and forecasts in accordance with business strategic initiatives.
  • Advise region/business unit leaders on strategic fiscal matters and facilitate financial management throughout the organization.
  • Conduct financial modeling and develop best-practice models for risk alternatives.
  • Assess business vision, objectives, and strategic initiatives for financial impact.
  • Complete costing activities and identify cost avoidance and recovery opportunities.
  • Evaluate performance and financial state using complex financial analyses and templates.
  • Report region/business unit financial information and communicate financial trends and findings.
  • Support field operations by analyzing and interpreting their operational/financial performance.
  • Conduct financial statement analysis of business partners and assess risk implications.
  • Improve financial performance by analyzing financial trends and identifying actions to address operational performance issues.
  • Inform strategic financial planning through complex financial, utilization, and benchmark analytics.
  • Assist with strategic financial planning by preparing recommendations for financial plans and operating forecasts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field.
  • Minimum six (6) years of Financial Planning & Analysis experience or directly related business experience.
  • Additional equivalent work experience in a directly related field may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two (2) years experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
  • Two (2) years project management experience.
