The Financial Planning & Analysis Director plays a critical role in the financial planning and analysis function of an organization. They are responsible for providing valuable insights, analysis, and financial guidance to support strategic decision-making and drive the overall financial performance of the company. The FP&A Director works closely with various departments and senior management to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, and provides recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency. The responsibilities of the FP&A Director include building and maintaining financial models, forecasts, and annual budgets. They analyze and interpret financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing accurate and timely financial reports, including variance analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs), to management and partners. The Director collaborates with senior management to develop long-term strategic plans and initiatives, assesses the financial feasibility and impact of strategic projects and investments, and provides financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making processes. They own the annual budgeting process and work with department heads to develop departmental budgets, monitor and update forecasts throughout the year, and identify areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvements. Additionally, the FP&A Director conducts in-depth financial analysis, including profitability analysis, pricing analysis, and scenario modeling. They evaluate the financial performance of business divisions or product lines and provide insights into drivers of performance, identify and communicate key trends and business drivers, and evaluate capital and other investments through key performance measures such as EBITDA, ROIC, and Operating leverage to support business justification. The Director tracks, reports, and analyzes ongoing performance measures through the life of investments, develops strong relationships, and acts as a trusted advisor to key partners. They find opportunities to enhance financial planning and analysis processes and systems, enhance methodologies to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ensure data integrity, and continuously assess and enhance financial reporting capabilities. Team leadership is also a key aspect of this role, as the FP&A Director manages and develops a team of financial analysts, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members while championing a culture of dedication, teamwork, and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is a plus.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in financial planning and analysis, preferably in a managerial role.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in using financial software, spreadsheets, and ERP systems.
  • Deep understanding of financial statements, key financial metrics, and financial performance indicators.
  • A high level of initiative, intellectual curiosity, and creativity with a strong eye for business and ability to translate financial data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial partners.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to empower and develop a team.
  • Diligent and highly organized, with the ability to manage several priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Forward-looking demeanor with strong analytical approach and experience driving business & operational improvement, ability to work independently, think objectively, and interpret relevant themes from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and multifaceted environment, adapting quickly to changing business needs.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SQL, PowerBI, Hyperion/Oracle/Essbase/PBCS a plus.
