About the position

The Financial Planning and Analysis Manager at Samsung SDI America Inc. is responsible for overseeing financial planning, analysis, and tax compliance. This role involves analyzing financial performance, preparing reports, developing financial models, and leading the tax provision process. The manager will collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with tax laws and optimize the company's tax strategy while mentoring and developing a team of tax professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze monthly variances, fluctuations, and revenue/cost performance against plans.
  • Forecast future performance and business trends.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports with variance analyses.
  • Develop financial models to support planning and business decision-making.
  • Lead the annual and quarterly US income tax provision process.
  • Manage KSOX internal controls compliance in income tax accounting.
  • Monitor and report changes to U.S. and foreign tax laws and regulations.
  • Lead research and analysis of complex tax issues and transactions.
  • Collaborate with various corporate teams to align data flow for global reporting.
  • Manage the income tax budgeting and forecast process.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. federal income tax laws and regulations.
  • Manage the audit defense process with tax authorities.
  • Develop and mentor staff through a continuous feedback culture.
  • Support tax planning opportunities to optimize the company's effective tax rate.
  • Assist with planning and reporting of acquisitions and divestitures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of income tax experience managing a diverse group of tax professionals.
  • Expertise in complex federal and international tax concepts applicable to corporations.
  • Significant experience in managing and preparing federal income tax returns.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Highly skilled in MS Office suite, especially Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Licensed CPA (either active or inactive).
  • Bachelors or master's degree in Taxation.
  • Bi-lingual (English & Korean).
  • SAP experience is a plus but not required.
