About the position

The Financial Planning and Analysis Professional 2 plays a crucial role in analyzing and forecasting financial, economic, and other data to provide accurate and timely information for strategic and operational decisions. This position involves varied work assignments that frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action. The professional will collect, compile, verify, and analyze financial information and economic indicators, ensuring that senior management has the necessary data to make informed decisions regarding acquisitions, investments, capital expenditures, divestitures, mergers, or asset sales. In this role, the professional will analyze the financial implications of proposed investments or transactions, enabling senior managers to evaluate alternatives against the organization's business objectives. The position requires evaluating industry, economic, financial, and market trends to forecast the organization's short, medium, and long-term financial and competitive position. Responsibilities include analyzing revenues, expenses, costs, prices, investments, cash flow, profits, labor market trends, inflation, interest rates, and exchange rates. Financial modeling, reporting, and budgeting may also be involved. The professional must understand departmental, segment, and organizational strategies and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. The Financial Planning and Analysis Professional 2 is expected to make decisions regarding their work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and will require minimal direction while receiving guidance as needed. Following established guidelines and procedures is essential to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and forecast financial, economic, and other data for strategic and operational decisions.
  • Collect, compile, verify, and analyze financial information and economic indicators.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to senior management for decision-making on acquisitions, investments, and other financial transactions.
  • Evaluate industry, economic, financial, and market trends to forecast the organization's financial position.
  • Analyze revenues, expenses, costs, prices, investments, cash flow, profits, and market trends.
  • Conduct financial modeling, reporting, and budgeting as required.
  • Understand departmental and organizational strategies and their linkages to related areas.
  • Make independent decisions regarding work methods in ambiguous situations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a similar field.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Intermediate or advanced level user with a relational database (Access, Oracle, or other).
  • Intermediate or advanced level user with Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in manipulating financial data for analysis and reporting.
  • Passionate about contributing to an organization focused on improving consumer experiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous health insurance industry experience working in a Finance/Accounting department.
  • Experience with SAS.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Hyperion.
