About the position

The Financial Planning Analyst role at Northwestern Mutual is a pivotal position that focuses on client service and the processing of variable products and other securities. This role is essential for maintaining a compliant investment process within the firm and ensuring that all investment-related tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner. The analyst will work closely with financial advisors to gather necessary information and specific instructions for input into financial planning software, which includes all modules related to asset allocation. In addition to data entry, the Financial Planning Analyst will be responsible for maintaining compliance for assigned client cases, managing the DocuSign and client signature processes to meet appropriate deadlines, and preparing and processing all necessary paperwork for investment and advisory accounts. The role also involves discussing potential rollover opportunities from other retirement plans, receiving and forwarding checks and related paperwork to the investment operations area, and processing and monitoring the funding of advisory accounts to ensure that the selected asset allocation is implemented effectively. The analyst will execute trades for brokerage and advisory accounts, process various asset movement transactions on behalf of clients, and support the planning team in investment allocation and strategies. This includes accepting redemptions and withdrawals from clients and communicating instructions to the home office, as well as running performance reports using tools such as Envestnet, Morningstar, and NMCIR. Overall, this role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining confidentiality and a desire to learn and grow within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain all necessary information along with specific instructions from the financial advisor for financial planning software input (all modules including asset allocation)
  • Maintain compliance for assigned client cases
  • Manage DocuSign and client signature processes by appropriate deadline
  • Prepare and process all paperwork needed for investment/advisory accounts as assigned
  • Discuss potential rollover opportunities from other retirement plans for variable and mutual funds
  • Receive and forward checks and related paperwork to investment operations area
  • Process and monitor funding of advisory account and asset transfers to ensure selected asset allocation is implemented
  • Execute trades of brokerage and advisory accounts
  • Process various asset movement transactions on behalf of clients
  • Support planning team in investment allocation and investment strategies
  • Accept redemptions/withdrawals from clients and communicate instructions to home office
  • Run performance reports in Envestnet, Morningstar and NMCIR

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of investments industry experience preferred, but not required
  • Health and Life licensed or gain licensing within 30 days of employment
  • SIE and Series 6 and 63 or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to practice active listening and communicate in a professional manner
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to proactively manage multiple diverse projects and assignments in a timely and quality manner
  • Able to collaborate and work between areas of expertise on the team
