Responsibilities

• Responsible for the accurate and timely output of financial data from the Financial Management Information System (FMIS) and providing administrative assistance to the department.
• Serves as or assists the institution Certifying Officer with primary responsibility for approving and certifying payments.
• Responsible for monitoring/reviewing the processing of all obligations for accuracy and timeliness.
• Analyzes obligation documents to determine validity of payment vouchers and proper classification of the obligations.
• Conducts formal as well as informal training to accounting technicians in the areas of policy, regulations, and various laws that fall under the area of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Maintains security of the institution as part of correctional responsibilities.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is Required.
• Education: Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
• Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
• Knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles, concepts, theories and practices, and financial reporting and standards for federal agencies.
• Knowledge of appropriation laws as they apply to Federal Government obligations and payments.
