About the position

The Financial Project Analyst position at Washington University in St. Louis is a full-time role responsible for overseeing the Auxiliary financial operations. This includes a variety of critical functions such as financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, transaction oversight, and ensuring compliance with university, federal, and international regulations. The analyst will serve as the primary liaison for area managers and directors, providing guidance on budget and financial issues. This role is integral to the financial operations of several departments, including Dining Services, Residential Life, and Fraternity and Sorority Life, among others. In this position, the analyst will manage projects related to the financial operations of various services, ensuring that all financial processes are streamlined and efficient. Key responsibilities include managing the transition of financial systems such as Atrium and Starrez into Workday, creating comprehensive financial analyses, and maintaining policy and procedure manuals for all software utilized by the departments. The analyst will also analyze existing accounting systems to identify areas for improvement and develop process enhancements that lead to increased efficiencies and cost savings. The role requires participation in committee meetings to integrate financial aspects into the overall student experience, and the analyst will perform additional duties as assigned. This position is crucial for maintaining the financial health of the university's auxiliary services and ensuring that all operations align with institutional goals and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage transition related to Atrium and Starrez and integration into Workday from a finance perspective.
  • Create financial analysis related to the operations of Dining Services, Whittemore House, Residential Life, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Summer Conferences and Program Services, and Congress of the South 40.
  • Create and maintain policy and procedure manuals for all software utilized by the departments, including Workday, Adaptive Planning, Atrium, and Starrez.
  • Analyze accounting systems and processes used by Dining Services to streamline operations and facilitate system enhancements.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Participate in committee meetings to integrate accounting/financial aspects into the total student experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Three to five years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and various accounting system applications.
  • Ability to research and report on accounting and technical issues.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop practical solutions to complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of reliability, accuracy, and productivity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience in WorkDay, StarRez, and/or CBord/Odyssey.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a service-oriented communicator.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Experience working with personal computers and proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheet, and database management software applications.
